Coffee is more than a product; it’s a cultural treasure from Naples, meant to be shared and enjoyed—a small moment of magic in every cup. Naples, with its deep-rooted coffee traditions dating back to the Borbone era, saw the first coffeehouse establishments that celebrated coffee as a social tradition. Caffè Borbone continues this legacy, bringing the taste and spirit of Naples to the world.
The Beginnings
Caffè Borbone was born in 1997 in Naples, as a coffee roasting and packaging company, inspired by the vision of its founder, Massimo Renda.
With experience gained in his family’s small coffee roastery, Renda recognized the potential of the coffee vending business.
Starting with door-to-door sales of espresso machines, he soon made a bold move: purchasing the company’s first pod machine.
This investment laid the foundation for a future of innovation and quality.
Within just a few years, Caffè Borbone established itself as one of the most beloved coffee brands in Italy, recognized for its authentic Neapolitan espresso.
A Name Rooted in Naples’ Coffee Heritage
Caffè Borbone was born from Naples’ deep-rooted coffee culture, inspired by the legendary brew crafted by monks of the San Francesco di Paola monastery.
In 1734, Carlo III di Borbone tasted this exceptional coffee before entering Naples to liberate Campania from Austrian occupation.
During the Borbone era, Naples became a cultural hub, and coffeehouses flourished, shaping the city’s espresso ritual.
In 2000, Caffè Borbone received authorization to use the “Borbone” name by Prince Carlo di Borbone, honoring this rich heritage in every cup.
The First Blends
Caffè Borbone’s original blends combine the finest Arabica and Robusta beans, carefully selected to honor the taste of Neapolitan espresso.
The creamy Arabica and the intense Robusta come together in the first blend, Blu, named after the brand’s color.
The bold Rossa blend and the refined Oro followed, creating options for all tastes.
Since then, the “Borbone family” has expanded to include new blends, infusions, and instant drinks, catering to every coffee lover.
Imagining the Future
Today, Caffè Borbone has grown into a leader in compostable coffee pods and compatible capsules, with a wide-reaching network across Italy.
Sustainability is central to Caffè Borbone’s vision—dedicated to people, the planet, and the community.
The brand’s commitment to responsibility is a core part of its mission, expressed through environmental initiatives, educational projects, and partnerships with cultural icons like Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
